We take part in ASPnet projects and activities

December 20, 2014 - International Human Solidarity Day

December 10, 2014 - Human Rights Day.

The discussion was organized and the students, participating in the event, shared their thoughts and ideas how to promote and raise awareness on human rights.

November 21, 2014 - Universal Children’s Day and World Philosophy Day.

November 10, 2014 - World Science Day for Peace and Development

This year’s theme is “Quality Science Education –ensuring a sustainable future for all”.

The students of our lyceum wrote essays on the topic “Are scientific inventions making us happier?” They tried to highlight the importance of a responsible use of science for the benefit of society, and the need to involve citizens in science. Some lines from students’ essays are given below.

“The first great idea which started man on the road to his great achievements was when a caveman picked up a heavy stone to help him.” (Anastasiya Khamyleva)

“I think that “the age of machinery” has brought us pollution and waste disposal. We are helped by so many machines that we have become lazy. Moreover, the industrial progress introduces serious hazards, so in future out Planet may become impossible to inhabit.” (Violetta Novitskaya)

“Modern technology helps us in many ways. It makes a reality of what only yesterday was a dream. It provides benefits for vast numbers of people.” (Natalia Milevich)

“One may call scientific progress a blessing on condition that it does not threaten man’s interests. We have to use modern gadgets carefully because the same inventions which save human life and improve the world can also be used to produce dangerous weapons or chemicals which may threaten our planet.” (Anastasiaya Gnedova)

October 24, 2014 - United Nation Day

October 16, 2014 - World Food Day: “Family Farming: Feeding the world, protecting the planet”.

October 17, 2014 - International Day for the Eradication of Poverty: “Do not leave anyone out: think, decide and act together against poverty”.

The students of our Lyceum interviewed their relatives who live in the country and have their own small farms. All of them enjoy a healthy way of living and think that despite some difficulties, family farming brings people much joy and pleasure.

“My relatives bought a small farm a few years ago. There was a plot of land and a house that needed some repair. They were so enthusiastic and they weren’t at all afraid of all the hard work they had to do.

At first they restored the house and then began growing fruit and healthy home-grown vegetables without the use of dangerous chemicals. Last year they bought a cow and some sheep.

They want their children to live and grow up on the farm where the air is fresh, the food is natural and water is clean, and the kids are able to explore and play in the woods. They want their kids to eat a lot more fresh fruit and vegetables instead of crisps and chocolate and also to understand more about where food comes from.” Daria Voronko, 11th form

October 5, 2014 - International Teachers’ Day

“Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach.” (Aristotle)

“True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own.” (Nikos Kazantzkis)

“In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” (Phil Collins)

September 21, 2014 - the International Peace Day

This year we celebrated the International Peace Day under the theme “right of peoples to peace”, selected to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace by the United Nations. The students participated in the discussion “What the “Right of Peoples to Peace” means to you personally”, the public speaking “What Are You Doing to Make Peace Happen?” and the ceremony “keeping one minute of silence” to give a momentum to world peace.
